Actor expresses anguish over recurring violence against children, urges stronger action
Actor Zara Noor Abbas has voiced concern over the safety of children and questioned the effectiveness of the justice system following a recent incident in Karachi.
In an Instagram story, she expressed anguish over what she described as the lack of meaningful consequences for serious crimes, asking whether the judicial system was doing enough to protect children from predators.
“These could be the worst times we are living in,” she wrote, referring to the recent incident and the broader frequency of such crimes.
The actor questioned why repeated cases of violence had failed to result in stronger legal action that could deter future offenders.
“There is no example being made out of something done so often and so easily, and it does look easy because it’s happening all the time,” she wrote.
Zara also challenged the notion that such incidents should be viewed solely through the lens of gender, questioning why society continues to witness violence without seeing decisive action from the legal system.

Expressing the fear faced by parents, Zara questioned what measures could be taken to protect children when the justice system appeared ineffective.
“But what do we do now? How do we save our children? An eye for an eye? Should we take the law into our hands?” she asked.
She further criticised what she perceived as systemic shortcomings, writing that the justice system “seems to behave like a 6th grader”.
She also expressed frustration over investigations that fail to deliver results, writing, “Let’s dig the grave again because the first time we didn’t get it right.”
Referring to the alleged attacker, whom she described as 17 years old, Zara questioned the application of juvenile protections in cases involving serious crimes.
“Let’s send the 17-year-old rapist to a mental institution because of juvenile behaviour,” she wrote.
Rather than simply expressing anger, Zara’s message reflected her broader concerns about the safety of children and the anxiety faced by families amid reports of serious crimes. “But then what do I do? How do I protect my children?” she asked.
Her comments ultimately called for stronger accountability, effective investigations and measures to prevent such crimes, while highlighting the growing public concern over confidence in the justice system.
