WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will streamline how users locate unsent messages and this enhancement is expected to be rolled out in a future release.

According to WABetaInfo, Meta’s popular instant-messaging app’s new chat list for draft messages is available in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.18.17 update and will allow users to locate all chats with draft messages.

Currently, if a user begins typing a message but doesn’t send it, the conversation is marked with a green indicator within the chat list, signalling the presence of a “draft message.”

However, finding these drafts often requires users to manually scroll through their entire chat history, a process that can be particularly cumbersome and time-consuming for individuals managing numerous conversations.

The Meta-owned platform is looking to address this inefficiency by introducing a dedicated filter that will automatically compile and display all chats containing unsent drafts, eliminating the need for manual searching.

This will be a notable improvement for users who frequently compose messages across various conversations and leave them unfinished.

By simply selecting the new “Drafts” filter, users will be able to instantly bring up a dedicated list of all conversations that contain unsent messages.

In addition to improving message management, the feature is designed as a practical reminder for users to revisit chats where they had begun typing a message but didn’t have the chance to send it, whether due to an interruption or a deliberate decision to respond later.

It’s important to note that this new filter will be a preset option.

This means that users won’t need to manually set it up or configure anything once the feature becomes available, as it will appear automatically when draft messages exist.

In addition, users can remove the draft filter at any time if they do not find this list useful. In case their needs or habits change later, they will still have the option to re-enable the filter and make use of it as needed.

The preset chat list for draft messages is under development and it will be available in a future update.
