In the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, team management and supporting staff have been instructed to stay away from four suspicious individuals, particularly shown through their images.
One of them is a former Pakistan regional cricket coach, two of them are Indians and one is Bangladeshi.Â
All have been strictly instructed to avoid any contact, and if any of them are spotted, they should refrain from engaging and immediately report to the anti-corruption officials.Â
It is important to note that the team hotel has not been fully booked by PCB, allowing regular movement of people. Measures have also been taken to prevent bookies disguised as fans from meeting the actual players. Everyone has been directed to report immediately if offered gifts exceeding 25,000 rupees. Players are also not permitted to order food from outside.
It is worth noting that in February 2017, PCB initiated an investigation into spot-fixing during the 2017 PSL, supported by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti-Corruption and Security Unit. This investigation led to the suspension of several cricketers under the PCB’s anti-corruption code. Those suspended include Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Irfan and Shahzaib Hasan.
