The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) notified on Tuesday that a temporary disruption in the gas supply would be faced by consumers in selected areas of Karachi and Balochistan tomorrow (Wednesday) due to repair work of a pipeline.
The disruption will take place from 9am till 6pm because a pipeline needs to be restored in Balochistan, as per the notification.
Airport Road, Jinnah Town, Shehbaz Town and PAF Base are among the areas of the port city where the gas supply would be suspended, whereas, Kutch Nasiran, Chashma, Nawan Kali, Alamo Chowk, Kali Barat, Kali Ismail, Khizhi, A-One City, Bruri Road, Hazarganji, Baleli, Kali Khizan, Pishin, Kuchlak, Yaro and Ziarat are regions of Balochistan, which will face the disruption, as per the gas utility.
Prior to this, similar events of gas disruption have taken place in the areas of Karachi and Lahore. In the month of June, areas of the port city saw 12 hours suspension of gas due to installation of a new pipeline.
Moreover, gas outages also occurred in areas of Lahore during summer. Citizens protested the low pressure of gas by SSGC during cooking hours as a consistent pattern of low and no-gas supply remained in place during the winter season.
In addition, during the beginning of July, some miscreants blew up a 24-inch Sui gas pipeline in Mach town, Katch. This resulted in an hour-long gas disruption in the area before the company repaired the pipeline, which was damaged in the explosion.
