LONDON: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in London from Belarus for a two-week stay as PML-N activists rallied in support at the Avenfield flats.
The former premier landed at Luton Airport at noon and is expected to stay in the city for two weeks. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is already in London over the weekend. He will fly back to Pakistan on Sunday night to attend the Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad.Â
Nawaz was received at the airport by PML-N UK leaders Ahsan Dar and others.
Before Sharif’s arrival, supporters of PTI and PML-N verbally clashed outside the Park Lane flats. A large number of PML-N supporters gathered to receive Nawaz. PTI activists protested against Sharif. The police separated the two sides. Nawaz didn’t speak to the media on his arrival.
The PM will meet his elder brother Nawaz at the Avenfield flats before leaving for Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz said on Friday that Belarus had extended a “generous offer” to invite over 150,000 young, highly skilled Pakistani workers to contribute to nation-building efforts in the eastern European nation.
The premier – with Nawaz and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz – was on an official visit to Belarus at the invitation of President Lukashenko.
