Meta Platforms is engaging in preliminary discussions to rent massive amounts of artificial intelligence computing power to rival startup Anthropic in a monumental transaction that could top $10 billion.
As reported by the New York Times, the proposed two-year agreement outlines a structure where the Claude creator would pay Meta in monthly installments.
If finalized, the partnership would catalyze Meta’s internal initiative to monetize its sprawling $145 billion infrastructure footprint, effectively launching a new cloud computing business line that competes directly with traditional tech providers and infrastructure specialists like CoreWeave

IPO-bound Anthropic had proposed the deal in June and Meta is considering it, the report said, adding that the talks have become complicated since Meta does not have a business ‌selling its computing power.
