ISLAMABAD: Justice Yahya Afridi is set to take the oath of office as Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) in a prestigious ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
President Asif Ali Zardari will administer oath to the newly-appointed top judge, who will serve the post for a fixed three-year term.
Justice Afridi has succeeded former CJP Qazi Faez Isa, who retired and relinquished charge as the top judge yesterday (October 25).
The new CJP is the first to be appointed under Articles 175A(3), 177, and 179 of the Constitution following the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
