Cloudflare experienced major disruptions on Tuesday, causing outages on popular platforms like X and several major websites, according to its official Status page.
Cloudflare provides core internet infrastructure, offering tools that secure websites from cyberattacks and keep them running smoothly even under heavy traffic.
Users received an alert about an internal server error on Cloudflare’s network, instructing them to try again after a few minutes.
“Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers: Widespread 500 errors, Cloudflare Dashboard and API also failing,” the company said in a new update.
“We are working to understand the full impact and mitigate this problem. More updates to follow shortly,” it added.
In the latest updates, the company said: “We are seeing services recover, but customers may continue to observe higher-than-normal error rates as we continue remediation efforts.”
Prior to this message, it said: “Cloudflare is experiencing an internal service degradation. Some services may be intermittently impacted. We are focused on restoring service. We will update as we are able to remediate.”
Tracking website, Down Detector, was also hit by technical problems itself.
Social media platform X was also down for thousands of users worldwide.
NetBlocks, a cybersecurity watchdog, also confirmed the global issue, saying “incident not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering.”
This is a developing story and is being updated with more details.
