The Texas House of Representatives passed a resolution officially recognising March 23 as “Pakistan Day.”
This historic move is a significant honour for the Pakistani-American community in Texas, acknowledging their social, religious, linguistic, and economic contributions to the state.
The resolution was introduced by State Representative Dr Suleman Lalani, highlighting the role of Pakistani Texans in strengthening Texas through their professional achievements, cultural heritage, and commitment to peace and prosperity.
Pakistan’s Consul General in Texas, Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry, was present in the House to witness this momentous occasion.
On this occasion, Consul General Chaudhry also met House Speaker Dustin Burrows in his office and expressed gratitude for his support in passing the resolution.
During their meeting, the consul general extended an invitation to the Speaker and a delegation of state representatives and business leaders from Texas to visit Pakistan, aiming to enhance economic and cultural ties between the two regions.
Later, the consul general attended an iftar dinner hosted by State Representative Lalani at the Texas Capitol.
The event was held in honour of the members of both houses of the legislature and local dignitaries, bringing together influential figures from various fields.
