KARACHI: Workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday face arrests ahead of the party’s rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah near Mazar-e-Quaid.
The police arrested several PTI workers at Numaish Chowrangi and shifted them to a prisoners’ van.
Meanwhile, party workers also resorted to stone pelting and stopped a police mobile at the site. Police officials say action will be taken against those resorting to violence.
The development comes as the former ruling party secured the green light from the Sindh government to hold a public rally after brief friction with the Sindh government over the venue and timing.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had arrived on a three-day visit to Sindh on Friday as part of the PTI’s street mobilisation movement to mark the first anniversary of the “fraud” February 8 polls held in 2024.
This is a developing story and is being updated with more details.
