Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday arrived in Istanbul on an official visit to Turkiye at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat received the prime minister at the airport. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkiye Dr Yousaf Junaid, and officials from Turkiye foreign ministry were also present.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar were also accompanying the prime minister during the visit.

During the visit, PM Shehbaz and President Erdogan will hold detailed discussions on all areas of Pakistan-Turkiye bilateral relations, according to the statement.

The talks will focus on further enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, while the two leaders will also exchange views on matters related to regional peace and security.

During his stay in Istanbul, the prime minister will also address a business conference being hosted by Pakistan to spotlight Islamabad’s trade and investment potential in priority areas, including SEZs, energy, IT, and privatisation.

The conference will bring together leading Turkish businesses and investors, alongside senior government officials and other distinguished participants.
