Multan Sultans headcoach, Abdul Rehman, exuded confidence in his team’s ability to clinch the title in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.

Speaking to a local news channel, Rehman emphasized the balanced composition of the squad, designed to excel in all facets of the game.

“We have tried to keep such a balanced side which could deliver in all three departments of the game. Our team is a complete package, InshaAllah we will win the title,” Rehman said.

Highlighting the team’s strategic approach to player selection, Rehman emphasized the importance of performance over big names.

“We have not formed the team on the basis of big names. We have looked at the boys who play a role in their respective departments and we have picked such players,” he further added.

In terms of spin bowling, Rehman outlined the team’s formidable options including Usama Mir, Khushdil Shah, and Iftikhar Ahmed.

“In spin bowling, we have three options in Usama Mir, Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed. In batting too, we have Iftikhar, Khushdil, emerging Yasir Khan, Dawid Malan, Reeza Hendericks and Rizwan. Johnson Charles also will come to join us and so will Chris Jordan. So, we have a balanced side,” Rehman added.

Rehman also assessed the favorable weather conditions for his team’s batting lineup, noting the current cold weather which suits seam and swing bowling, providing an advantage to Multan Sultans.

“These days it’s cold and you can see seam and swing and such conditions suit our batting line-up,” he further said.

When asked about the key players in the team, Rehman singled out skipper Mohammad Rizwan for his pivotal role at the top of the order. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of overseas players and the strength of the lower-order batting, led by Iftikhar and Khushdil.

“We want Rizwan to bat effectively. Our overseas players who have been picked in the platinum category are top players. There is Iftikhar and Khushdil. The teams with strong lower order get more advantage and we have two very good lower order batsmen who play for Pakistan. It’s a major point,” Rehman said.

Rehman concluded by stating the team’s motivation to secure spots in Pakistan’s World Cup squad, underscoring the players’ determination to perform at their best in the PSL.

“Players are motivated to get a place in Pakistan’s squad for the World Cup,” he concluded.
