KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday predicted hot and humid weather for Karachi for today.

The Met Office said the maximum temperature was expected to hit 37 degrees Celsius in the metropolis, while it could feel like 40-42 °C.

“The intensity of heat will be felt more because of high humidity in the air, which currently is 61%,” says the meteorological department.

It said winds were blowing from the west at a light speed. Sky would remain completely clear as there was no chance of rain, the Met Office said.

A day ago, the PMD had predicted a persistent hot weather in Karachi this entire week. Karachiites sizzled under excessive heat on Monday as the mercury soared up to 36°C, according to the Met department.

The weather department stated that the Sindh’s capital was experiencing continental air from the western side at 14km per hour with a humidity level of 67%.

A weather analyst predicted temperature will vary between 35°C and 37°C this week which could further rise this weekend up to 40°C.

However, the city will experience light winds from the west and southwest during this time, with humidity levels varying from 40% to 50% amid peak sunlight hours, which will be increased by 80% at night.

The analyst added that Karachiites will continue to suffer excessive heat with slight daily variations in temperatures until the arrival of monsoon spells.
