The first trailer for Inspector Jamshed: The Secret Parchment landed online, offering fans of Ishtiaq Ahmed’s classic Urdu novels their first proper look at the long-awaited on-screen adaptation. Many celebrities also praised the trailer.
The film, slated for release in 2027, follows Jamshed, played by Omair Rana, as he investigates a series of murders tied to a mysterious parchment. The film’s central antagonist, Behzaad, is played by Ahad Raza Mir.
The trailer delivered on genre promises: fast cars, gunfights, a secret society, and a family at the centre of it all. It also hinted at tension between Jamshed and his wife Shakeela after Behzaad kidnapped their daughter.
Inspector Jamshed’s three children, Mehmood, Farooq, and Farzana, are played by Ravel Imran and sibling duo Ahmed and Aline Harkous, echoing the family dynamic that made the original books popular with generations of readers.
Shakeela is played by Anoushay Abbasi, while the inspector’s trusted friend Khan Rehman is taken on by Asif Raza Mir, who also co-produced the project.
The film was shot in Abu Dhabi, including at the Louvre and the desert dunes that have previously hosted big-budget international productions such as Dune and the Mission: Impossible franchise.
With the newly dropped trailer, celebrities flocked to the comments to show their support and express their excitement. Mahira Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Shaista Lodhi, Yasir Hussain and Maya Ali were among those who congratulated the cast on the upcoming project.
With production complete and a 2027 release on the horizon, Inspector Jamshed: The Secret Parchment appears set to bring one of Pakistani fiction’s most enduring heroes to a new generation of viewers.
