Sunday just became more exciting for fans of the beloved Harry Potter franchise! Actor Daniel Radcliffe and his longtime girlfriend, Erin Darke, are expecting their first child together. The happy news was revealed after paparazzi spotted Darke with a noticeable baby bump during a leisurely stroll in New York City.
As per Us Weekly, Radcliffe’s alum’s rep confirmed the news. The pictures saw Darke showing off her baby bump in a black zip-up hoodie that hugged her belly with matching leggings and a black and white checked peacoat. She added a pop of colour with her orange boots. Radcliffe, meanwhile, rocked a navy puffer jacket with a bright blue and yellow winter hat.
The couple, who have been together for over a decade, first met on the set of the 2013 film Kill Your Darlings and have been inseparable ever since. Fans of the actor took to social media to express their excitement about the news, and of course, there were Harry Potter references. From the name of the kid to a debate on whether it’ll be a half-blood or not, Twitter was full of congratulatory wishes for the actor.
A user wrote, “Junior Harry Potter? Here we go!”
Another tweeted, “I am so super excited and happy for them! They are gonna be such incredible amazing parents.”
A fan commented, “Imagine saying ‘my dad is Daniel Radcliffe’.”
Radcliffe has previously spoken about his desire to have children and how he hopes to involve them in his work on film sets. “I want my kids, if and when they exist… I would love them to be around film sets,” he shared in an interview with Newsweek. “Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids.” However, he also expressed his desire to shield his future children from the negative aspects of fame.
On the work front, Radcliffe has been keeping busy with his acting career, most recently starring in the biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Fans are excited to see what the future holds for Radcliffe, both in his personal life as a new dad and in his career.
