Sings says her anniversary post was not intended as a diss, urging fans to enjoy the music without the drama

Singer Shae Gill has addressed the online debate comparing Hania Aamir’s new track Pablo with her own song Insecurity, after listeners drew parallels between the two and some accused the actress-turned-singer of borrowing from Gill’s work.

The discussion gained traction after listeners began pointing out similarities between Pablo and Insecurity on social media. It intensified when Gill shared an acoustic version of Insecurity to mark the song’s first anniversary.

Some fans interpreted the timing as a subtle jab at Hania, with one Instagram user writing that Hania should “learn not to steal things from others”, prompting others to join the discussion in the comments.

Gill, however, pushed back against the suggestion that her post was directed at anyone in particular.

“I’ve never been a hater and never will be,” she wrote in response to the comments, explaining that she had released her first solo song the previous September and had shared an acoustic version this September simply to mark its anniversary.

“I don’t understand how that equals a diss?? I can’t explain myself in every comment,” she added, telling fans they were free to enjoy whichever song or drama they preferred.

The acoustic clip also attracted support from fellow artists and influencers.

Singer Aima Baig and Abdul Hannan reacted with emojis, while actor-influencer Momina Munir asked Gill to release the full version.

The exchange comes a year after Gill first released Insecurity, which she introduced on Instagram as a long-awaited single created with producer Mushtaq Elektrik.

The Lahore-based singer shot to fame with her Coke Studio duet Pasoori alongside Ali Sethi. She was later named Spotify RADAR Pakistan’s featured artist, with the platform highlighting Insecurity alongside her other 2025 releases, Gila and Staring At Me, as her international listenership expanded across markets including the US, UK, Bangladesh and Canada.
