MASTUNG: At least three people were killed and three others injured in an explosion in the Khad Kocha area of Balochistan’s Mastung district, police said on Friday.

A bomb disposal unit has been called to the site to determine the nature of the explosion, police said.

Following the blast, law enforcement personnel reached the site and cordoned off the area, they added.

Meanwhile, the deceased and injured were shifted to Mastung hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment.

The latest incident comes days after two people were killed, and two others injured when an explosive device planted along a roadside exploded at Wali Tangi in the Hanna Urak recreational area of Quetta, The News reported.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its KP and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces remained the country’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026, with KP emerging as the worst-affected region.

The report stated that KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded during the quarter. Of the total deaths, more than 61% (475) were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 34% (265).

Security forces have been conducting intelligence-based operations (IBOs) against terrorists in parts of Balochistan under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3.
