- Services chiefs attend award ceremony in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Commander of the National Strategic Command General Syed Amir Raza was conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) by President Asif Ali Zardari at a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the services chiefs also attended the ceremony.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the Senate chairman, federal ministers and other senior officials were also present at the ceremony.
The prime minister last month promoted Gen Raza from the Lieutenant General’s rank to the rank of “Four-Star General” and simultaneously appointed him to the coveted post.
He was previously serving as the Chief of the General Staff of Pakistan Army.
The new title was established after the Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy (Amendment) Bills 2025, were passed.
The Commander of the National Strategic Command post was created after the abolishment of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) — General Shamshad Mirza was the last to hold the position.
