Tremors were felt across Peshawar and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the early hours of Friday, with the epicentre recorded in the Hindu Kush mountain range, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre.
People in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Malakand, Dir, Haripur, Abbottabad and surrounding areas reported feeling the quake, which struck at a depth of 148.2 kilometres.
The intensity was recorded at magnitude 5.0, the Seismological Centre said, adding that the exact strength and impact were still being assessed.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
