Former US president Donald Trump — who once called handshakes barbaric — has started to accept the fact that in politics he has to face large crowds and interact with them intermittently, as the 77-year-old earlier termed himself “germophobic”.
An interview published Friday by the Washington Examiner revealed how Donald Trump has got bruises on his hand, even scratches of nails.
“In this business, you just have to get over it,” the former president said upon being asked if he was “germophobic”. He also showed the back side of his hand that was covered by a large, greenish bruise.
“It happened all the time,” he remarked.
“No, I never really felt that,” Trump responded to a question after his abrupt departure from the Oval Office with the Capitol Hill riots in 2021. “Because I feel a love from the people. I feel the crowd, and I feel a love. I never felt that — just never felt it.”
The 77-year-old also reiterated his claims contrary to election results in 2020 calling them rigged and that he had won the election.
When asked that even four indictments could not shake his public support, he responded: “Who would have thought that, right? Did you think?”
He also added: “Well, usually when that happens, you announce you’re leaving, you’ll fight for your name, and you’re going back to your family, right? I would say usually — 100% of the time.”
Explaining why he did not because “one thing — the public knows him really well, and he has been able to explain how phony all this stuff is.”
The former president is facing 91 criminal indictments and an issue of submitting a $454 million bond that is due Monday.
