Meta-owned platform WhatsApp has disclosed that it is working on a feature which will enable users to view and follow channels using QR codes as part of its future update.
The messaging platform is developing a new section that allows channel owners to share the QR code for their channels. Notably, a more efficient alternative to sharing traditional links has been presented by the use of QR codes, reported WABetaInfo.
A QR code can be displayed directly on the screen for anyone nearby to scan instead of needing to send a link that users must open.
As a result, this new feature removes the need to copy and send the channel invite link in case users are engaged in face-to-face interactions.
With the help of this feature, channel owners will simply be able to show the QR code on their device to friends or audiences. This will make the sharing process more spontaneous and engaging.
Users will be instantly redirected to the channel after scanning the QR code. This will permit them to view its content and follow it with just a tap in the future.
According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will be specifically beneficial in social settings where users want to share their favourite channels without relying on digital communication.
