WhatsApp is introducing a revamped emoji reactions panel in the app’s chats, groups, and channels, which is currently being tested by beta users.
Beta testers can explore this new and improved emoji reaction panel via the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.6.15 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, according to WABetaInfo.
The Meta’s instant-messaging app’s new interface enhances the organisation of emoji reactions within chats, groups, and channels, allowing for easier navigation.
Previously, reactions were displayed in a lengthy vertical list, making it difficult for users, particularly in highly active channels where reactions are frequent.
The latest update adopts a more compact design, showcasing four reactions per row, significantly reducing vertical space and minimising the need to scroll through an extensive list of options.
Additionally, the reactions in chats and groups will continue to be displayed in a vertical list format, showing the names of contacts who reacted to messages. However, WhatsApp has revamped the tab design at the top of the page, which gives the interface a modern and polished look.
This update highlights the distinct ways reactions are utilised across different contexts.
In channels, where follower identities remain private unless they are saved in the user’s contact list, a new grid layout will showcase reactions.
On the other hand, in chats and groups, where user information is more relevant, the vertical list will be maintained with redesigned tabs for a more modern look.
The new sheet for emoji reactions will be rolled out to even more people over the coming weeks.
