In today’s forecast, the PMD earlier said the metropolis’ temperature was likely to climb to sweltering 40°C with its intensity expected to reach 45°C.

The Met Office had said that since monsoon winds were entering Sindh, thunderclouds might form in Karachi’s outskirts.

“Therefore, there is a chance of moderate to heavy rain in various areas across the metropolis in the evening or night today,” it had added.

Despite sporadic showers during some previous days, the city mostly remains gripped by hot and humid weather.
