Saving, investment power of Pakistanis sees boost: survey

The percentage of Pakistanis who said they have saved or invested money is rising, Geo News reported. This was disclosed in a report by Ipsos Pakistan’s Consumer Confidence Survey 2024 for second quarter, in which over a thousand citizens participated nationwide.

As per the survey, the percentage of citizens who could save and invest increased from 4% to 15%, whereas, the number of those who could not decreased from 89% to 85%.

Ipsos Pakistan said the number of citizens who said they could save has continued to climb up to 11% since September 2023.

Pakistanis’ confidence boosted for major purchases like a house or car by 5%, as it rose from 2% to 7%, while the number of those who expressed uncertainty slumped by 5% to 93%, the report said.

Some 51% of Pakistanis expressed the fear that the country’s economy will remain weak in the next six years, but 22% were hopeful for an improvement and showed the possibility of the economy remaining strong. 27% said that there would be no change.

On the question of improvement in their financial conditions, 48% of Pakistanis expressed disappointment and said that there would be no improvement in future, but 28% were hopeful for an improvement in their financial condition, 25% said there would be no difference in future.
