Pakistan faced a resounding 0-7 defeat against Jordan in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Round 2 Qualifier away fixture, at the Amman International Stadium on Wednesday, with Jordan emerging victorious over Pakistan.

Last Thursday, Jordan thrashed Pakistan 3-0 at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad during the first qualifying match between the two sides, marking Jordan’s first visit to Pakistan for a football match in 18 years.

Danish defenders Mohammad Fazal and Abdullah Iqbal did not play the game. Fazal was sidelined due to a hamstring injury. Meantime, defender Abdullah Iqbal was suspended for the crucial game following accumulated yellow cards from recent matches, as announced earlier by the PFF.

Iqbal was issued the first yellow card during the initial round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers match against Cambodia in Islamabad on October 17, 2023. He was shown his yellow card during a home match against Jordan in the second round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on March 21, 2024, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) said.

Pakistan’s journey in the qualifiers showcased a mix of victories and defeats. Pakistan clinched a 1-0 victory against Cambodia last October, marking their first-ever FIFA World Cup qualifier win in Islamabad. However, their momentum faltered with a 4-0 loss to Saudi Arabia in the subsequent round.

“The national team arrived in Amman through a private airline flight via Doha,” the PFF said in a statement.

Looking ahead, two teams from the group will advance to the third round, while the remaining two sides will contend in the Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.

Expressing his sentiments after previous win, Pakistan’s English coach Stephen Constantine expressed satisfaction in his team’s ability to limit Jordan to three goals during their encounter in Islamabad.
