Hailing the multibillion-dollar infrastructure and connectivity project, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that economic and cultural relations between Pakistan and China are developing rapidly due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In his message on the International Day of Chinese language on Saturday, the premier said China has made its mark around the world due to its economic development.
“The Chinese culture and language are rapidly becoming popular all over the world,” he said.
The prime minister said that the Chinese has become a “major language of communication” around the world.
“The United Nations has also included the Chinese language in the official languages of communication.”
In order to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, the PM said all possible measures were being taken at the public and private level to promote Chinese language and literature in Pakistan.
For her part, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the Chinese language has acquired significant importance in the global perspective.
In her message on the occasion, she said the Chinese language is one of six official languages of the UN. She said China has proved its worth as an economic power across the globe.
“Relations with China are gaining strength with every passing day,” she added.
It is pertinent to mention that Chinese Language Day is a UN celebration to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity.
The UN celebrates six separate days each to mark one of its six official languages to promote equal use of all these languages.
