PESHAWAR: Police have arrested a constable, who is the key facilitator of the suicide attack that killed at least 86 police officials in Police Lines area of Peshawar in January 2023, said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General (IG) Akhtar Hayat Gandapur.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Peshawar, Gandapur said the policeman, Mohammad Wali, was arrested from Jamil Chowk few days ago and two suicide jackets were recovered from his possession.
“It was revealed during the investigation that the suspect belonged to the police department,” he said.
The arrested suspect had held a meeting with terrorists of Jamaatul Ahrar and Mohammad Khurasani, he said, adding that the suspect had been arrested by the Afghan forces as well.
