KARACHI: The port city has been sizzling for the past few weeks and the heat in atmosphere does not seem to abate in the coming days as well, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in its latest weather forecast.

As per the Met Office, the weather in Karachi is expected to remain extremely hot for the next four to five days, with mercury likely to shoot up to 39 degrees Celsius.

The PMD, on Sunday, said that most parts of Sindh including Thatta, Sujawal, Umarkot and Tharparkar will also witness hot and dry conditions during the said period.

Karachi and various other cities have been reeling under sweltering heat as continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country, the meteorological department said.

In the weekly forecast, the Met Office predicted the arrival of a westerly wave in the upper parts of the county from October 22 (Tuesday).

Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country throughout the week till October 26.

However, partly cloudy weather with chances of rain-wind and thunderstorm is expected in the upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on October 23 and 24.

Meanwhile, hilly areas are likely to experience chilly days during the rest of the week.
