US Small Business Administration head Kelly Loeffler took a significant step to increase her investment in SpaceX. This comes after she was nominated to her post and earned millions of dollars from the company’s record initial public offering.Â
According to a financial disclosure, Loeffler invested between $1 million and $5 million on January 3, 2025.
The 55-year-old invested between $1 million and $5million in SpaceX and xAI, in line with the 2025 financial disclosure report of 2025 that she signed on May 14, 2026.
In this connection, cabinet members use ranges for asset declarations on their required financial disclosure forms, and do not reveal the dates of their investments before taking office.Â
Franco Grando, an analyst at data provider PitchBook estimated that her first investment in xAI would have been worth between $7 million and $ 2.6 billion on the day of the IPO-in proportion to the amount she invested and the date she made it.
Loeffler previously invested in xAI through a private placement. It is crucial to note that private placements are typically open to select individuals and institutions with substantial financial resources.
For those unversed, Loeffler was the founding chief executive at Bakkt, and a wealthy businesswoman.Â
She spent 16 years working at Intercontinental Exchange; moreover, she is married to Intercontinental Exchange CEO Jeffrey Sprecher. It is pertinent to mention here that the Senate confirmed Loeffler as SBA administrator on February 19, 2025.Â
