ISLAMABAD: The federal government has taken back the import ban on energy savers and some preparation material used in animal feed, the Ministry of Commerce clarified Saturday.
Some reports had earlier suggested that the ban had been revoked from the import of cat and dog food. However, as per the government’s notification, the exemption from the ban only applies to energy savers and preparation material used in animal feed, other than cat and dog food.
The government had on May 19 imposed a ban on the import of non-essential luxury items under an “emergency economic plan” to “save the country’s precious foreign exchange”.
Meanwhile, pet owners continue to urge the government to reconsider the ban on pet food.
The Commerce Ministry’s notification said that the restriction shall not apply on the import of goods ordered before May 19.
