Mohsin Naqvi has recently been assigned the responsibility of PCB chairman for a period of three years. He has resigned from the position of caretake chief minister in Punjab and, after a few days’ leave, is now prepared to fully manage the affairs of the cricket board.

Several important decisions are being sought, including the appointment of the captain and coaches of the national cricket team.

According to sources, PCB authorities are considering establishing an advisory committee comprising former cricketers, whose advice will be crucial in making important decisions.

Mohsin Naqvi has brought several officials from the Punjab government to the PCB, who will be assigned various tasks. This has caused unrest among current officials, who fear losing their jobs. Efforts are being made to ensure job retention through loyalty or recommendations from influential figures.

It is reported that most of the new employees will focus on domestic cricket, infrastructure and security matters. Mohsin Naqvi is particularly interested in mega projects and is eager to upgrade the country’s stadiums before hosting the Champions Trophy, which could cost billions of rupees.

The hosting of the mega event in Pakistan is currently at a fifty-fifty stage. With India’s refusal to visit Pakistan, there may be a need to adopt a hybrid model similar to the Asia Cup. However, the PCB is not currently considering such forward-thinking measures. The situation will become clearer once Mohsin Naqvi assumes his role as chairman on a full-time basis.
