KARACHI: The power tariff for consumers of K-Electric (KE) has been reduced by Rs4.12, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) shared on Friday.

According to NEPRA’s statement, KE’s management has been directed to ensure relief to its consumers in September’s electricity bill. The decrease in tariff will, therefore, reflect in next month’s bill for consumers in Karachi.

NEPRA stated that the cost of electricity has been reduced as part of July’s fuel price adjustment (FPA).

The notification further mentions that following the reduction of the power tariff, KE’s consumers would receive relief of Rs7.4 billion.

Earlier following the government’s decision of waiving fuel adjustment charges (FCA) on electricity bills for households that consume power up to 200 units or five kilowatts load, KE announced that the revised bills would be issued from August 26.

On August 24, Power Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan explained that only those households which consume electricity up to 200 units will be exempt from fuel charges adjustment (FCA).
