The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a teenage student in Bahawalpur over an alleged attempt to poison his father with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI), said a spokesperson on Wednesday.
According to the spokesperson, the 17-year-old student searched for a method on an AI tool about making and administering poison.
The case was brought to light after intelligence from abroad.
The teenager reportedly set up a laboratory at his residence after getting inspiration from crime dramas.
Authorities found evidence suggesting that chemicals had been made in the home.
The NCCIA official said that the accused prepared the poison by ordering chemicals from Australia and Islamabad.
The boy initially attempted to harm his father, but the attempt failed. He later sought guidance from an AI system to implement his plan again.
The NCCIA director took action after receiving intelligence about the case. The information prompted investigators to pursue the matter, ultimately leading to the arrest of the student in Bahawalpur.
