RAWALPINDI: Police arrested two suspects after a woman was allegedly killed at her home in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area, as investigators probe the circumstances surrounding her death.
The suspects were identified as the victim’s husband and a domestic worker, while her father-in-law was also named in the case but had not been arrested.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station, where the woman’s body was recovered from a bathroom, police said.
The victim, identified as Hina, had been married for nine months, according to the police officials.
According to a first information report (FIR), the woman’s hands were tied behind her back, and her mouth was covered with a piece of cloth when she was found.
The complainant said he received a call from the victim’s father-in-law and reached the house, where he found his sister lying in the bathroom.
He alleged that the suspects attempted to portray the incident as a suicide.
The victim’s brother alleged that her husband had previously subjected her to abuse. He also said Hina was the suspect’s second wife and that his first wife had obtained a divorce.
Police said Hina’s post-mortem examination had been conducted and its report was awaited. Investigators also collected evidence from the scene and continued the probe.
The victim’s family also demanded the arrest of her father-in-law, who they said was nominated in the case but remained at large.
The family urged Punjab Police to fulfil all legal requirements and ensure justice for Hina.
