LAHORE: At least 11 police officials, including a station house officer (SHO), were booked following a mistaken raid at the Lahore residence of Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan, Punjab police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the raiding party had information about a neighbouring house but mistakenly entered AGP Awan’s residence during the operation.
According to a first information report (FIR), the police officials exceeded their authority by conducting the raid, stating that the SHO of Sarwar Road police station and 11 personnel have been charge-sheeted.
The AGP’s driver, Irfan, alleged that the SHO climbed over the gate and entered the house along with other personnel. He said that only household staff were present when the raid was carried out.
Irfan further alleged that police took away the CCTV camera system and later returned the digital video recorder (DVR) after deleting the footage.
He also said AGP Awan reached the house after being informed of the raid while attending a meeting.
The driver claimed flower pots placed outside the residence were damaged during the operation.
Meanwhile, the SHO of Sarwar Road police station has obtained interim bail from a court.
