Actor says education, income can help women support their children without partner
Veteran actor Asma Abbas shared her views on financially independent women, emphasising that single mothers do not need to remarry if they are able to support themselves and their children.
Asma posted a YouTube video, saying that divorced or widowed women do not necessarily have to remarry. “If a woman is independent, has money, then she does not need to get remarried especially if she has children. She is not confined to getting married again,” the actor said.
She added, “I think it would be better if you already have financial independence and do not require another person’s support.”
Asma also discussed the mental wellbeing of both mothers and their children, saying, “When things get bad, it can be difficult for the kids as they can get personally disturbed. Then the mother goes into guilt when the kids get older.”
Further, the actor stressed the importance of education and financial independence, noting, “If you have a good education and job, you do not need anyone else or need to be afraid. You can support your kids on your own.”
Although some fans agreed with Asma’s views, others disagreed, arguing that every woman’s circumstances are different and that marriage is not solely about financial stability but can also provide emotional companionship and support.
Ultimately, Asma’s remarks sparked discussion regarding the various reasons people may choose to remarry or remain single. While many appreciated her perspective on financial self-sufficiency, others maintained that the decision to remarry was deeply personal and depended on each individual’s emotional, familial, and social circumstances.
