Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is the first Indian actor to appear on Time Magazine on its list for the 100 influential people of the year 2026.
Times 100 is an annual list compiled by the magazine highlighting the top global leaders, artists, and innovators of the year.
Kapoor has been in the Bollywood industry for the past 18 years, starring in films such as Rockstar (2011), Barfi (2012), Yeh Jewaani Hai Deewani (2013), and Animal (2023). The list also awards Indian’s of other professions including Google CEO Sunar Pichai and Chef Vikas Khanna on the list this year.
The star’s profile for the magazine was penned by actor Ayushmann Khurrana who touched on his excellent achievements and impact on the industry.
Khurrana wrote, “There are actors who chase legacy and there are actors who become one through their craft. Ranbir Kapoor is the latter. In an industry as prolific and passionate as Indian cinema we often measure greatness in decibels box office numbers, fan frenzy opening weekends. But every once in a while an actor shifts something quieter yet far more enduring: our emotional vocabulary as an audience”.
Khurrana also touched on Kapoor’s representation of India’s diverse culture through his performances.
“He represents the India that is finally learning how to listen to itself and leaves a mark through simple authenticity. Globally actors like Ranbir become important cultural bridges. He embodies an India that is evolving not just in scale but also in sensitivity”, the note on the website further read”, he said.

The recognition puts Kapoor alongside global icons across international industries including Victoria Beckham. Dakota Johnson, Keke Palmer, Jennie (Black Pink), and Ben Stiller.
