Two dead, over 30 injured in Karachi aerial firing on Independence Day

KARACHI: At least two people were killed and over 30 injured in celebratory aerial firing during Independence Day festivities in different parts of the city, rescue officials said on Thursday.

One of the victims is an eight-year-old girl who died after being hit by a stray bullet in the city area of Azizabad. In another similar incident, a man named Stephen lost his life in Korangi.

Rescue officials confirmed that 31 people have sustained gunshot injuries across the city as a result of celebratory firing.

Authorities have condemned the dangerous practice and appealed to the public to celebrate Independence Day responsibly.

Police have started investigations and promised strict action against those involved in aerial firing.
