Punjab cabinet has decided to increase salaries of government employees from 20% to 25% as per their grades besides hiking pensions of the retired workers in the budget 2024-25.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz-led Punjab cabinet greenlighted the decision to increase the salaries of Grade 1-16 employees by 25%, Grade 17-22 officers by 20% and retired workers’ pensions by 15%.
Subsequently, the provincial government also increased the minimum wages from Rs32,000 to Rs37,000 per month.
Earlier in the day, the province unveiled its budget with a total outlay of Rs5.4 trillion following the approval of CM Maryam-led cabinet without imposing new taxes and with a 53% increase in the revenue targets — from Rs625 billion to Rs960 billion.
CM Maryam’s administration has maintained same increment and pension plan for the government employees which was announced by the federal government in the budget for fiscal year 2024-25.
