In yet another troubling “post-fine” road rage incident, a disgruntled motorist, driving a minivan, on Friday tried to run over two on-duty traffic police officers in Peshawar after being issued a challan.

Before making a clean getaway, the vengeful driver left one officer injured, the police said.

The CCTV footage of the incident that took place at Nishtarabad Chowk shows the speeding minivan hitting the traffic officials and then driving off at full speed.

The police officers said the driver, angry over a traffic challan for breaking the rules, tried to harm them by ramming his vehicle into two traffic officers.

According to the police, the injured traffic official was immediately taken to the hospital and is stable now.

The FIR of the incident has been registered at the Gulbahar police station. Police are searching for the suspects by all available means, including mobile phone number tracing and raids on physical addresses.

In April this year, a court in Rawalpindi sent a woman to jail for 14 days after she sped away from the scene where she had hit a motorway police officer at the Motorway Toll Plaza in Islamabad on January 1.

The Rawalpindi police quickly arrested her and seized her vehicle after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The incident happened when the accused, Farah Zahira, was pulled over for speeding. She argued with the officers and failed to show her driving license or vehicle registration.

As the police were about to fine her, she drove off, hitting police officer Muhammad Sabir.
