Shahid Kapoor has come a long way from starring as a teenager in his debut rom-com to playing a deranged, obsessive lover. The actor recently completed his 20 years in Bollywood and will essay a baddie in his upcoming venture, Bloody Daddy.

Kapoor’s upcoming project sees him as a killer caught in an unprecedented situation, which prompts him to navigate ways to get out of the mess he’s created sneakily. However, the actor has been called out for opting for one-toned roles such as Kabir Singh, Udta Punjab and Haider

As per a report by The Indian Express, when Shahid was asked about choosing these edgy scripts at the trailer launch event of Bloody Daddy, he said, “I have been married for eight years. I cannot take out frustration at home, so I go on the sets and take it out. [Web series] Farzi was a warm-up and now this (Bloody Daddy).”

Earlier, in an interview with PTI, Kapoor had told him he enjoyed doing action onscreen. “It was a lot of fun. I had a great time doing an action film; I enjoyed working with Ali. He understands the genre very well. The dilemma now is that if you’re doing something of this scale on OTT, what do you do on the big screen? So we have to figure that out; it has been a blast,” the actor said.

Kapoor said Bloody Daddy had been developed with the idea of a big screen on OTT. The film also stars Diana Penty, Sanjay Kapoor, Ronit Roy, and Rajeev Khandelwal in pivotal roles.

Kapoor has delivered several blockbuster films in the last 20 years. His career started with chocolate boy roles in Ishq Vishk, Fida and Dil Maange More. Eventually, he turned towards mature characters with layers, such as Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met and the titular character in Haider. The actor has also been part of dark comedies, action films and masala entertainers in the last several years.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Shahid spoke about how things in him have changed and how he has grown as an artiste.

“A lot in me has changed, but certain fundamentals are the same. I hold on to that innocence that I started with. Yes, it goes away sometimes, and then you must connect with it again and bring it back. It has to be always at the forefront. If you want to be good at anything, you must be a student,” the actor said.
