Celebs thank green shirts for keeping up a good fight

Pakistani cricket fans across the globe sat with bated breath and a mixture of emotions today in hopes of watching history repeat itself after the men in green secured a place in finals after 13 long years. But perhaps, even reaching the finals was a big feat for us and fans are proud of their team as always!

From sending their love and respect to Shaheeh Shah Afridi after his injury mid-match to commenting on our shortcomings and celebrities took to their social media to cheer up the green shirts for putting up a good fight and trying their best till the very end.

“Thank you brave ones for putting up a good fight, that’s what matters. Proud of my team, always,” wrote Mawra Hocane in an Instagram story with a painted face for the match.

Zara Noor Abbas also chimed in. “Luck wasn’t on our side today! Losing the toss and losing Shaheen at a crucial time cost us the World Cup!” she wrote in a tweet. “Either way, well played boys! Proud of the fight you put up! Pakistan Zindabad.”

Osman Khalid Butt was just glad that the team didn’t give up and kept everyone “glued to their screens” till the end. “Congratulations, England! Well fought, team Pakistan. Kept us all glued to our screens. Nothing but love.”

Humayun Saeed asked the men in green to buckle up and not lose hope but continue with the “incredible spirit” that they held throughout the tournament. “Winning and losing will continue what matters are the incredible spirit with which the Pakistan team bounced back in the tournament and continued to fight till the last ball. Well done boys. Insha Allah, there will be many more opportunities to win in the future. Congratulations England!”

Farhan Saeed thanked the team for giving the nation the utmost happiness of getting to the finals again. “Well played Babar Azam and boys! Keep your head high. Tough luck Shaheen Afridi, you were missed in the last overs. Overall you were great. And thank you for giving Pakistan this happiness.”

Ali Rehman Khan, brimming with pride, called the team Pakistan’s superheroes. “Pakistan does have a league of superheroes, and these guys are it. They play like a single unit, fight hard until the very end and never let defeat shatter their confidence, coming back twice as strong. So proud of this team. We love you team Pakistan.”

The Parde Mein Rehne Do actor also went on to compliment Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah’s exemplary bowling today.

Rabia Butt also took to her Instagram stories to cheer Babar Azam’s team. “Trophy or no trophy, playing against one of the best teams in the world tells a lot about how far the Pakistan cricket team has come against all odds,” she wrote in a long note detailing how our country has never given enough resources or importance to games and athletes. “We, as a nation, are proud of all of you for your resilience.” 

Asim Azhar, who is a die-hard cricket enthusiast, wrote, “Thank you my boys for the memories & the never-ending fight You made us believe in never giving up. Playing a world cup final in Australia is no joke. We must learn from our mistakes & come back stronger. We are still proud of you.” 

Ready for another ride of Pakistani cricket, he asked, “Okay so when is PSL starting now?”

The Habibi singer also commented on how he absolutely adores Pakistan cricket fans for they truly know how to cheer themselves up even after a big loss.
